IFSU Celebrates Int'l, Nat'l Students' Day with Engaging Activities


Ifugao State University (IFSU) marked International and National Students' Day with an array of activities that showcased the University's commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment on November 17, 2023. Themed "Learning Beyond Borders: A Global Perspective," the event, spearheaded by the Department of Student Services and Development (DSSD), underscored the importance of fostering a campus environment that nurtures academic excellence, moral integrity, and social awareness.

 

Mr. Noli M. Linnog, Governor of the University Student Supreme Government (USSG), emphasized the significance of the event in cultivating a sense of responsibility and civic duty among students. He highlighted the University's dedication to creating a campus environment that fosters personal growth and prepares students for global citizenship.

The six colleges of IFSU - Lamut showcased their creativity and talents in the Battle of the Brains and Cosplay competitions held at the Heritage Convention Center organized by the Vocation Leaders of the Philippines College Chapter (VLPCC). The College of Health Sciences emerged victorious in the Battle of the Brains, while the College of Agriculture and Sustainable Development took home the top prize in the cosplay contest.

Students also displayed their artistic prowess through a Street Chalk Art. The school pavements transformed into a temporary canvas, showcasing a variety of colorful designs and patterns.

In response to the increasing prevalence of juvenile delinquency, a symposium on moral recovery and values formation was held to provide valuable insights into the importance of upholding ethical and moral standards. Ms. Riezelle I. Echanova, Section Chief for Campus Ministry, discussed moral recovery and value formation, reminding the students to always anchor on the University Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives. Meanwhile, Dr. Florence N. Bahni, Director of the Department of Research and Development, discussed values formation emphasizing the importance of redirecting one's own failures or mistakes towards success.

Meanwhile, the USSG and VLPCC organized a tree-planting and clean-up drive, involving the participation of students and faculty. The group worked together to clean the school premises, sidewalks along the perimeter fence and national highway, and the river banks along sitios Halog to Agang-ang. A total of 549 seedlings were planted, contributing to a greener and more sustainable campus environment.

Ms. Desiree Ballitoc, DSSD Director, in her closing remarks, reiterated the University's dedication to supporting students and fostering a strong sense of community. She commended the students for their active involvement in helping the community, even in small ways.
