IFSU enters MOA with CSU for Disaster Resilience Mapping

The Ifugao State University (IFSU) entered a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Cagayan State University for Disaster Resilience Mapping of Mission Critical Infrastructure and Investments of SUCs in the Philippines.

The MOA stated that Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) shall carry-out critical functions of Instruction, Research, Extension and Production that are vital in societal economic development and survival of the country.

The MOA added that academic activities of HEIs are frequently disrupted, and its mission critical facilities and investments are damaged and threatened by current and future natural, geological, and human-induced calamities and disasters.

With this situation, there is an urgent need to strengthen the resilience of the HEIs to the above mentioned disasters by carrying out collaborative climate and disaster resilience researches, capacity building and mainstreaming activities.

With the MOA, IFSU is expected to designate a project coordinator and a project staff, allow its instructional, research, extension, lifeline and critical infrastructure as well as its ICT investments to be subjected to vulnerability and risk assessments.

Other expectations include research team members to conduct project meetings, visit facilities, hold focus group discussion, gather and validate data needed for the research.#
