Security personnel undergo training on Basic Life Support & Use of Gender-Fair Language

True to its mantra of “No employee left behind,” Ifugao State University (IFSU) led by the Department of Human Resources and Development (DHRD) capacitated 22 security personnel on Basic Life Support and Use of Gender-Fair Language at the Multipurpose Hall, Admin building on December 7, 2022.

The seminar is part of DHRD’s Learning and Development Series, “Panudtudu,” which aims to train all employees with knowledge and learnings that are helpful in the delivery of their functions in the University.

Ms. Fedelym Pugong, DHRD Director, said that the training for security officers aims to equip them with skills in preventing emergencies from getting worse through proper basic first aid care in different situations and introducing them to the concepts of gender-fair languages.

“The latter will help you in communicating with our clients without any hint of gender bias. It will help you to be more sensitive to their needs and convey words in a manner that is acceptable to them regardless of gender orientation,” added Dir. Pugong.

Meanwhile, Dr. Marissa P. Bulong, Vice President for Research Development and Training, representing University President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, lauded the DHRD for spearheading such activity to empower all personnel in the University.

“Just like soldiers and police officers armed with knowledge, skills, firearms, and full personal protective equipment, you can respond quickly and correctly during a crisis. We appreciate all of the security personnel who have come to participate in this activity,” Dr. Bulong remarked.

Dr. Johny Rhyman D. Salman, IFSU’s medical officer discussed Basic Life Support while Ms. Riezelle Aguinaya I. Echanova expounded on Gender Fair Languages.
