IFSU reaffirms coop with KU, holds collaborative meetings with Japanese prospect partners

Ifugao State University (IFSU) President Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon in her recent visit to Noto, Japan affirmed the existing Agreement for Cooperation and Exchange between IFSU and the Kanazawa University (KU) in Japan signed in 2018 for scholarly and educational exchange.

One of the activities stipulated in the Agreement is on exchange of students. In her message during the flag-raising ceremony on Monday, University President Dugyon said, “Let us also take off with our student exchange program in the University. We are opening opportunities for our students to have their cultural exchange with KU in Japan. KU is open to accept our students and we are planning to have at least three to five-day stay in Japan for cultural and community immersion.”

“The cultural exchange will be opened to all students. We will start with small and manageable number of students,” she added.

However, the student exchange program have its challenges since the University cannot shoulder all expenses. “There will be arrangement with the University on how we proceed with our program but prospective students should be prepared if they really want to go for a cultural immersion,” she added.

She urged the different campus administrators, deans, international affairs unit and the whole IFSU family to work and realize this aspiration.

The University President also successfully conducted collaborative meetings with the Ishikawa Prefectural University and the Ifugao GIAHS Support Committee (IGSC)-Japan.

During the IGSC meeting, the University President proposed and presented the possibilities and prospects of the Ifugao Satoyama Meister Training Program since the program will be ending in the early part of 2020.

“Our meeting with the IGSC is one way of exploring possibilities and opportunities with other agencies to fund this noble program,” she said. //by:Judy C. Baggo
