IFSU studes crowned winners, excellence awardee in TESDA reg'l skills tilt


Students of Ifugao State University continue to #SoarHigh as they excel in competitions outside the University.

Three (3) students from the College of Computing Sciences (CCS)-Lamut campus were gold medalists and one (1) an excellence awardee from the College of Business Management (CBM)-Lagawe campus during the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) 2022 Regional Skills Competition at the Cordillera State Institute of Technical Education (CSITE), Baguio City on August 31-September 2, 2022.

IFSU students Genrey B. Amtalao, Nick Lemmuel Empleo, and Johncel D. Guman-gan who are also TESDA scholars showed exceptional skills in network cabling, Information Technology (IT) business solutions, and graphic design. On the other hand, another scholar Jazzy May B. Dinamling gave a professional show in the cooking competition.

University President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon lauded the 4 IFSU students for exhibiting exemplary performance in the skills competition during the Flag Raising Ceremony and Fellowship in front of the Administration building last Monday.

“Salute to the College of Computing Sciences and College of Business Management students and faculty. You brought pride and honor not only to the University but also to the province of Ifugao. In everything we do, we do it excellently for God’s glory and honor,” said Dr. Dugyon.

Aside from the gold medals and certificates of recognition, cash prizes worth 10,000 Php was also given to the competitors as their rewards.

The 3 young medalists were coached by the Dean of the CCS, Dr. Jo Ann D. Doculan, and faculty members Ms. Lannie E. Santos and Mr. Dario H. Galeon. Meanwhile, Ms. Corine Joy S. Tapo and Ms. Cyrene B. Pangan, both faculty members of CBM served as coaches of Ms. Dinamling.

The 2022 Regional Skills Competition aims to provide opportunities for TESDA scholars to compete and demonstrate their competencies in particular vocational skills using task and industry-based scenarios.

Said competition was participated in by six (6) provinces of Cordillera. The three (3) young medalists together with 18 other gold medalists will be representing TESDA-Cordillera Administrative Region in the upcoming 2022 Philippine National Skills Competition in December 2022.
