IFSU Dep't heads train DepEd staff on facilitation, personality & professional dev’t

To strengthen collaboration with a strong ally in education, two (2) officials of the Ifugao State University (IFSU) capacitated non-teaching personnel of the Schools Division of Ifugao under the Department of Education (DepEd) on the necessary skills needed in the workplace on June 21-23, 2022.

Ms. Sandra Irish C. Marquez , Director of the Department of Human Resources and Development, centered her topic on areas of professional development and ways of managing personal and professional development.

She noted that professionals must have a growth mindset to avoid career stagnation and to future-proof one’s skills to remain relevant in the industry or switch entirely if needed.

“Personal growth and professional development are so intertwined that one cannot be separated from the other. The practice of meditation is an effective aid in the overall development of an individual,” added Ms. Marquez.

Meanwhile, Ms. Lalie Vic A. Cawilan, OIC- Director for Sociocultural Affairs, shared and demonstrated how to effectively facilitate activities through strategies such as role-plays and participatory discussion.

She said facilitation skill is both a process and product of personality development.

Dr. Soraya T. Facullo, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, expressed hope that the training helped the participants in developing leadership and communications skills and confidence in dealing with teachers and learners and pursuing opportunities in life. She reiterated the need for these skills with a fast-growing workforce and expanding responsibilities.

Around 40 staff members composed of administrative officers and nurses attended the capacity-building event.
