IFSU remembers Former Assemblyman Gualberto Lumauig, a forerunner in its development

The Ifugao State University (IFSU) expresses its utmost sympathies to the passing of Former Ifugao Governor and Assemblyman, Gualberto B. Lumauig. We lost a pioneer and builder of Ifugao during its early years as a province.

At IFSU, we recognize his enormous contributions to the development of our University.  As Assemblyman of Ifugao appointed during the Marcos administration, he was instrumental in the steady and upward metamorphosis of the institution with his Parliamentary Bill No. 1326 in March 1982 as Batas Pambansa (BP) Blg. 189 that upgraded the Ifugao Agricultural and Technical College (IATC) into the Ifugao State College of Agriculture and Forestry (ISCAF) integrating with it the former Potia National Agricultural School in Potia and the Barangay Schools at Amduntog, Kiangan; Hacmal, Aguinaldo; Hapao, Hungduan and Impugong, Tinoc.

Thereupon, the autonomous chartered ISCAF started its implementation in January 1983.

In IFSU Potia, he sourced close to P300,000.00 to augment the P50,000 initial budget of the school to increase the land size of the school.

He was our Guest Speaker during the 97th Foundation and 8th Charter Day Celebration.

In his passing, we salute a man dedicated his life to serve the Ifugao people and instrumental in the development of our University. #
