IFSU launches Search for Best Home Gardens

As a response to the enhanced community quarantine, the Ifugao State University launched its "Search for Best Home Gardens" in order to engage families in putting up home gardens that will provide easy access to vegetables on March 31.

Said activity is anchored in the extension program, "Muntanom ta Waday Kanon: A Response to Household Food Security," one of the components of the University's Emergency Response Program against COVID-19. Several kits were turned over to the participating Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs), namely: Bimpal, Nayon, and Payawan of Lamut town.

A kit contains five (5) kinds of vegetable seeds, a technoguide, and the contest guidelines. Recipients of Organic Agriculture Production (OAP) and Agricultural Crops Production (ACP) trainings conducted by IFSU in other parts of Ifugao are also eligible to join. "It is our hope that our farmer clients and households will find this worth participating. We may not produce much, but at least we can produce for our family's consumption," said Marah Joy A. Nanglegan, Director of the Department of Extension and Training. Winners will be awarded cash prizes and agricultural kits.
