Extension trains women on meat processing
To generate employment and augment the income of women of Bolog, Kiangan, the Research, Extension and Development (RED) through the Department of Extension and Training Services (DETS) conducted a skills training on basic meat processing and native delicacies preparation at the Barangay Hall, Bolog, Kiangan, Ifugao on September 11-12, 2018.
Mrs. Ma. Chita Villena and Veronica Robles of the College of Agriculture and Home Technology (CAHS) imparted basic information on meat processing which includes the different types of processed meat, methods of meat processing, the equipment being used and the importance of having clean production center in food processing. Participants were able to process tocino, embotido, and skinless longanisa.
Meanwhile, the native delicacy’s preparation was discussed by Dr. Emilia Ordillo, Ms. Josefa Dulinayan and Ms. Linda Tagtagon from CAHS. The women were able to produce camote roll, camote donut, cassava pitsi-pitsi, cassava roll, biko, squash puto, and maja blanca.
The training was spearheaded by DETS, Future Agriculturists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines and the College of Agriculture and Home Science was attended by 25 women of Bolog, Kiangan, Ifugao. #
