IFSU Lib Director Attends Sakura Exchange Science Program in Japan

In pursuit of providing a world class library services, the Ifugao State University (IFSU) supported Dr. Liza M. Tamargo, Director of Library Services to the Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (Sakura Exchange Program in Science) to benchmark on the best library practices from the different universities and institutions in Japan from October 28-November 5, 2018.

Among the activities and lectures during the Exchange Program include: Japanese library technology, material preservation, digital archiving, academic information infrastructure, and construction of database for maps.

“The experiences that we learned from the Program is crucial in our efforts to improve our library services from all aspects. Learning first-hand on the lectures and libraries in Japan, we have a lot of areas to develop and we accept these challenges,” said Dr. Tamargo.

“The learnings also from the trip will be used to start collaboration with the local government and communities for the collections of artifacts to preserve Ifugao culture and heritage,” added Dr. Tamargo.

IFSU supported the Exchange Program as it will provide avenue for learning to improve the current library services of the University. #
